In an era of deep divisions, meaningful conversations can bridge the gap. This interactive workshop led by the Circle for Democratic Solidarity introduces Canadians in Conversation, a conversation format designed to reduce polarization and foster mutual understanding.

Participants will begin by answering a short survey on their personal devices, helping to pair them with someone who holds different views. The session will open with an overview of the recent Final Report on Missing and Disappeared Children, along with the perspective of a residential school survivor, offering essential historical and personal perspectives. Attendees will then learn a structured approach to navigating difficult discussions before engaging in a one-on-one dialogue with their matched partner.

To ensure a respectful and informed space, a non-Indigenous historian will be available for a Q&A following the conversation portion, helping to clarify facts and respond to any questions that arise. The session will close with a survey to assess any change in viewpoints.

This 120-minute workshop spans two consecutive workshop timeslots.
