Sara Udow
Principal, Monumental
Sara is an award-winning urban and cultural planner with 15 years of experience in city-building, community engagement, and cultural planning. She is passionate about creating more equitable, creative, and compassionate cities, believing that collaborative processes lead to the most meaningful outcomes. Before joining Monumental, Sara co-founded and led PROCESS (2019–2023), an urban and cultural planning studio; co-founded Crazy Dames (2015–present), an artist studio specializing in creative public engagement; and served as Managing Director of plazaPOPS (2022–2024), a nonprofit that transforms parking spaces into people places. Sara has led and is working on a diversity of city-building projects across the GTHA and Canada. Recently she co-led the City of Toronto Culture Plan engagement process and is leading an equitable engagement process for Bike Share Toronto. In all her work, she works to bring folks with a diversity of perspectives together, and create space for relationship and trust building and capacity building all while gathering important insights that shape impactful policies, plans, and community improvements.
