Lisa Deanne Smith

Senior Curator, Onsite Gallery, OCAD University

Lisa Deanne Smith is the Senior Curator of Onsite Gallery, OCAD University. Her practice explores issues of voice, embodied experience, multispecies collaboration, knowledge creation and power. She has been published in local and national art magazines and contributed to anthologies on art and culture. She has taught in OCAD University’s Criticism & Curatorial Practice and Drawing and Painting programs. Selected curatorial projects over her past 16 years with Onsite Gallery include: pi'tawita'iek: we go upriver (a large-scale outdoor mural by Jordan Bennett); How will we be with you?; How to Breathe Forever; The Sunshine Eaters: Shary Boyle, Nick Cave, Jim Holyoak, Brian Jungen, Jessica Karuhanga, Alexandra Kehayoglou, Nina Leo + Moez Surani, Tony Matelli, Alanis Obomsawin, Ebony G. Patterson, Winnie Truong); Ads for People: Selling Ethics in the Digital Age; and I Wonder: Marian Bantjes.
