Robin Prest is the Director of Democratic Participation and Innovation at Simon Fraser University’s Morris J. Wosk Centre for Dialogue, where he works to: 1) Foster the increased resilience and renewal of Canadian democracy, both to address factors destabilizing our democracy and to reimagine how our system can more fully addresses inequities, upholds human rights and reflect contemporary values and possibilities; and 2) Advance participatory democracy in ways that are meaningfully integrated with decision-making, equitable, deliberative, dialogic and grounded in relationships. Robin co-chairs Canada’s Multi-Stakeholder Forum on Open Government, and his commentary and programming have been featured in forums such as the United Nations Climate Conference (COP26), the Open Government Partnership Global Summit, Westminster Foundation for Democracy's inaugural Environmental Democracy conference, The Hill Times and The Globe and Mail. He is currently advising the development of a Maturity Model for Public Participation that proposes new quality benchmarks for this field and supports governments in evaluating and improving their organizational capacity.
