Sidney Leclercq
Senior Program Officer - Democratic and Inclusive Governance, International Development Research Centre
Sidney Leclercq (he/him) is a Senior Program Officer in the Democratic and Inclusive Governance division of the International Development Research Centre, Canada (IDRC). His portfolio focuses on democratic resilience, civic space protection, and digital governance. Prior to joining IDRC, Sidney was Policy Analyst & Team Lead on Policy Reform in the Development Co-operation Directorate of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), supporting governments strengthen and reform their development co-operation systems. He holds a Ph.D. in Political and Social Sciences (Université libre de Bruxelles) focusing on the intersection between international democratization efforts and autocratisation processes, an MA in European Studies (Institut d’Etudes Européennes – ULB) and a BA in Political Science (Université Saint-Louis – Bruxelles). He was previously visiting postdoctoral fellow at the Université de Montréal (CÉRIUM - Centre d'études et de recherches internationales), research fellow at the Université libre de Bruxelles and the Université catholique de Louvain, and lectured in multiple Universities in France, Belgium and Haiti.
