Michelle Nie
Visiting Fellow, the Technology and National Security Program at the Center for a New American Security (CNAS)
Michelle Nie is a visiting fellow with the Technology and National Security Program at the Center for a New American Security (CNAS), a leading national security and foreign policy think tank in Washington, D.C. She focuses on the security implications of AI and compute governance.Â
Prior to CNAS, Michelle worked on global AI capacity-building initiatives at UNESCO. She has also researched the intersection of competition policy and emerging technology with the Open Markets Institute. Her background spans finance, technology, consulting, and public policy. Michelle is also the co-founder of Women in Safety and Ethics (WISE), a global community for women in responsible AI.Â
Michelle holds a master’s degree in public affairs from Sciences Po in Paris and a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley.Â
